HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR SHREDDER

Helpful information for maintaining your shredder

Four tips for maintaining the shredder

Maintaining your shredder is essential to start the new season!
Summer season is over, and it is now time to maintain your shredder. Whether it's a wood chipper or rotor shredder, every machine needs maintenance! Several checkpoints are essential. We advise you on what needs to be done:

1 - Check the entire machine

To ensure that your machine is well working, you should regularly check the general condition of the machine by controlling the screw connections, the functioning of the safety devices and the buttons.

2 - CHECKING THE BLADES.

When you inspect your shredder, you must also check your cutting tools. Whether wood chippers or rotor shredders, the cutting tools are different and require their own unique maintenance and inspection.

Wood chippers

Maintenance of the chipper's cutting wheel includes checking the drive belts of the cutting disc, lubricating both bearings of the cutting disc, checking the blades and counter-blades and finally proving and removing the winding protection around the bearing axles.

Rotor shredders

With rotor shredders, the rotor must be maintained so that you can always work efficiently. Therefore, it is important to regularly check the tension of the belts, the cleanliness of the air intake under the rotor, the screw connections, etc. Lubricating the hammers, blades and both bearings is also essential for maintaining your shredder.

3 - Engine maintenance

When maintaining your shredder, one has to consider the engine's service. As with any engine, the oil level, condition of the air filter, coolant, battery and belt tension for diesel engines have to be controlled.

4 - Checking the chassis

Chassis maintenance is an important part of chipper or shredder maintenance to ensure you are moving your chipper safely to the next location. The check points are quite simple: check the brakes, lights and wheels, the frame and check the vehicle and trailer hitch (ball head or towing eye).

5 - Controlling the hydraulics of the shredder.

To properly maintain your shredder, it is essential to check all hydraulic components. Many points need to be lubricated, e.g. the roller or the feed belt.
Detailed information on maintenance can be found in the operating instructions.
